Facility Bus/Wheelchair Van Driver - ON CALL
Description
The purpose of this position is to operate and maintain vehicles and transport residents, staff, volunteers. All tasks should be done in such a manner to maintain employee safety, as well as safely meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
All Drivers must have a clean driving history and current CDL.
For applicants under the age of 25, they must have at least 3 years of experience driving a passenger bus.
Starting rate is $17.50/hr. This position provides up to 19 hours per week.
Hours for this position vary by the week, and the position is "on call". The schedule is made a week in advance and hours could start as early as 7:00am and complete as late as 6:30pm.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Practice safe driving habits.
• Follow all state and national safety regulations and standards.
• Assist all passengers in loading and unloading, including those in wheelchairs.
• Interact with all passengers in a professional manner.
• Keep vehicle’s exterior and interior clean and presentable
• Maintain vehicle equipment; replace oil, fill gas tank, perform general motor vehicle maintenance as needed for safety.
• Complete all documentation needed.
• Follow schedules for drop off and pick up of residents and staff.
• Identify and report to supervisor of any equipment malfunction.
General Duties and Responsibilities
• Demonstrate core values and non-negotiable behaviors as defined by the Artesia Christian Home
• Follow Residents’ Rights and confidentiality policies at all times.
• Follow facility safety, emergency & disaster program.
• Observe infection control procedures related to the maintenance department.
• Assume accountability for data contained in the employees’ handbook.
• Attend all in-service training programs.
• Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor in a cooperative manner
Qualifications:
1. At least 23 years of age, due to care insurance regulations.
2. Must pass a California criminal background clearance.
3. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
4. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
5. High School education or GED minimum; prior experience in a health setting/maintenance department preferred, but not required.
6. Must be reliable, punctual and have excellent time management skills.
7. Must be in good physical and mental condition to perform assigned tasks.
8 . Must pass a physical health screening test (performed by a licensed physician), drug screen, and a two-step intradermal TB test (or a chest X-ray), as required for Healthcare industry jobs
9. Must be able to hear, talk, and have a clear vision with or without corrective lenses.
10. Must be able to balance, crouch, bend, grasp, kneel, pinch, pull, push, reach above the head, reach with arms extended, stand, stoop, bend, turn, twist neck, waist or knees, lift or exert force of up to 50 pounds, and sit for long periods of time.
11. Able to work night, weekends, and holidays as needed.
