Maintenance Associate – Grocery Basket, Grenada, MS
Grocery Basket has served Grenada since 1976, and we take pride in a store that's clean, safe and welcoming every day. We're looking for a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Associate to keep our building, equipment and grounds in top shape.
This is an objective-based role. Each week and each month you'll have a set list of maintenance objectives to complete. You're measured on getting them done, so small problems get caught before they turn into expensive ones. You'll also handle repairs assigned by management. You'll report directly to the General Manager.
You'll be the store's first call on maintenance decisions. When a job is beyond in-house repair, you'll decide whether to bring in an outside specialist (refrigeration, electrical, HVAC or plumbing contractor) and recommend it to management. Outside service calls require management approval before they're scheduled.
What you'll own:
• Refrigeration, ice machine and HVAC filters
• Shopping carts and rolling equipment
• Floor scrubber and buffer
• Lighting, doors, signage and restroom plumbing
• Landscaping, sidewalks and curb appeal
• Fire extinguisher checks and flag upkeep

Requirements/Responsibilities

• Full-time, Monday through Thursday
• On-call Friday through Sunday for maintenance emergencies
HOW YOU'LL BE MEASURED
• Complete all weekly and monthly maintenance objectives on schedule.
• Keep an accurate log of completed work and give the GM a monthly status update.
• Make sound repair-vs-specialist calls and get management approval before scheduling outside service.
DUTIES
Weekly
• Inspect doors, lights, signs and restroom plumbing. Fix what you can and report what you can't.
• Complete repairs assigned by management.
Monthly
• Change refrigeration, ice machine and HVAC filters.
• Repair carts and rolling equipment.
• Service the floor scrubber and buffer.
• Walk the sales floor for tile and fixture damage.
• Inventory maintenance supplies and give the GM a status update.
Quarterly
• Pressure wash sidewalks and building walls.
• Clean up flower beds and landscaping.
• Inspect fire extinguishers and replace the flags out front.
Ongoing
• Respond to maintenance emergencies, including weekend on-call.
• Follow safe work practices at all times.
• Log all completed maintenance.
• Diagnose problems and decide when to call an outside specialist. Bring a recommendation to management and get approval before scheduling.
REQUIREMENTS
• Must be comfortable working on electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems
• Comfortable using hand and power tools, ladders and a pressure washer
• Available Monday through Thursday, and on-call Friday through Sunday
• Reliable and self-directed. You hit your weekly and monthly objectives without being reminded.
• Good judgment on when to fix it yourself and when to call in a specialist
• Good communication with management and store staff
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand and walk for long periods, and work outdoors in all weather
• Prior building, facilities or retail maintenance experience is a plus
• Full-time, Monday through Thursday
