Description
Location: Atlanta, GA area (hybrid, with regional travel to customer stores) Type: Full-time Reports to: Manager / VP Customer Operations

Canary Retail Technologies was born out of Canary Hiring Technologies to focus on the independent grocer market. We provide point-of-sale systems built for independent and regional grocery stores, and we will support more than 960 grocery customers across the United States. Grocers run on thin margins and long hours, so when a lane goes down, it costs them sales right away. We exist to keep their checkouts running.

We are hiring a POS Implementation & Support Specialist to be the person our grocery customers count on, from the day their system is installed through every busy Saturday after. You will install and configure POS systems in stores, train store teams, and resolve support issues by phone, email, remote session, and on-site visit. This is a hands-on role for someone who likes solving problems, enjoys working with store owners and managers, and takes pride in getting a store live and keeping it that way.

What you'll do

Installation and implementation

Install and set up POS systems in grocery stores, including registers, scanners and scanner-scales, receipt printers, cash drawers, customer displays, payment terminals, and back-office computers.

Configure the POS software: item and price files, departments, promotions, tax settings, tender types, and user permissions.

Set up payment processing with card processors and gateways, following PCI standards, and support grocery-specific tenders such as EBT and WIC where applicable.
Set up and troubleshoot store networks, including cabling, switches, routers, and wireless connections.

Stage and test equipment before shipment, and coordinate hardware delivery and install dates with customers.

Train store owners, managers, and cashiers at go-live, and stay on point until the store runs smoothly.

Customer support

Answer customer support requests by phone, email, and remote session, resolving issues on the first contact whenever possible.

Diagnose and fix hardware, software, network, and payment issues so stores can keep ringing sales.

Make on-site service visits when an issue cannot be fixed remotely.

Serve as the escalation point for complex or urgent issues, and work with hardware vendors, processors, and our product team to find root causes.

Keep customers informed on ticket status, planned updates, and any expected downtime.

Log every case and its resolution in our ticketing system.

Process and knowledge

Write and maintain install checklists, support procedures, and a knowledge base of known issues and fixes.

Help test and roll out software updates and new features across the customer base.
Share what customers are struggling with so we can improve the product and reduce repeat issues.
