Human Resources Manager
Description
The Human Resources Manager oversees and maintains local, state, and Federal employment compliance for all Team Members. The HR Manager is expected to be a conceptual thinker with fantastic organizational and conflict management skills. The HR Manager should exhibit strong decision-making skills and a deep understanding of employee relationships and staffing management to ensure success. Top candidates will be comfortable “working in the grey” and have laser focus on the details.

Requirements/Responsibilities
Compliance
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal legislation for labor compliance
- Partner with Owner/Operator to ensure personal liability and risk management to protect the interests of the organization and its employees
- Partner with the Chief of Staff and Dir. People & Organizational Development to create policies and systems to ensure a safe and compliant workplace
- Serve as the organization’s COVID-19 Point of Contact (POC) to issue work clearance for weekly testing Team Members, manage changes to COVID-19 regulations, and address all other related inquiries
- Correspond with OSHA Consultant monthly and maintain OSHA binder
- Correspond with Bambee and ensure HR policies and procedures are met
- Ensure accessibility and disability resources are provided to ensure workplace safety
- Work with legal firm to update employee handbook each quarter and notify employees of any changes
- Review and respond to all EDD claims, Sedgwick and workman’s compensation claims, and Pasadena City and Health Communications
-Serve as the primary point of contact for labor lawsuits alongside the organization’s legal representation
- Participate in coaching conversations with Team Members and leaders to correct behavior to ensure compliance
- Ensure break policy is followed and track all meal penalties
- Oversee admin in the monthly payroll audit
- Order local, state, and federal labor posters and ensure they are posted in the restaurant
- Oversee all child support claims and ensure paycheck deductions
- Communicate and facilitate benefits related to disability, FMLA, and Maternity/Paternity leave
Employee Files
- Issue paperwork required of new Team Members during orientation and onboarding
Audit existing Team Member files for proper paperwork monthly
- Track completion of required trainings and certifications (e.g. Food Handler’s Cards, ServSafe Certification, Worker’s Permit, Sexual Harassment Training, COVID-19 Vaccination Status, etc.)
- Prepare Department of Labor i9 archives separated from employee files
Payroll
- Issue disciplinary action and accountability to Team Members for failure to record time in accordance with labor law
- Issue exception pay, bonus checks, and other special circumstances as it relates to wages
- Ensure premium deductions are recorded for healthcare, vision, dental, etc.
Benefits & Employee Resources
- Partner with external Insurance/Benefits Broker to ensure ACA reporting compliance
- Notify employees when they become eligible for insurance and retirement benefits
- Provide and answer Team Member FAQS as they relate to benefits
- Partner with Owner/Operator to design PTO system
- Create an annual budget and tracking system for benefits issued and used to reevaluate benefit package annually
- Serve as primary point of contact between CFA, 3rd party vendors, and employees as it relates to benefits and resources.
- Ensure CFA Home Access is issued and updated for all leaders of the organization
Advancement & Termination
- Participate in coaching and disciplinary conversations regarding promotion, suspension, and termination
- Maintain systems for internal promotions pertaining to applications, interviews, etc.
- Generate offer letters for new Team Members and leaders
- Conduct exit interviews, issue last paycheck, and receive CFA property (uniform, keys, card swipes, etc.) at a Team Member’s termination
- Notify admin to remove employees from Back-office system, email, and Slack upon termination
