A&W® is looking for Field Trainers. This position will ideally be located out of Lexington, KY, but remote work may be considered.


Contributes to A&W® success by implementing company standards through coaching and training. Scope of work resides mainly in the field facilitating training for managers and team members of Franchise Partners. This position reports to the Manager of Field Training.

Essential Functions

1. Executes a strategic plan focusing on operational excellence, consistent best
production standards, and superior guest service.
2. Trains and develops franchisees and restaurant staff on operating procedures.
3. Enforces compliance to A&W Restaurant’s standards and specifications.
4. Ensures all company and governmental regulations are being observed.
5. Cultivates a positive and constructive business relationship with Franchise Partners
and their teams.
6. Acts as a brand ambassador at all times.
7. Contributes to Restaurant Support Services team projects.
8. Coordinates and facilitates training for managers and team members for new
restaurant openings.
9. Provides operational support during new restaurant openings.
10. Coordinates and facilitates brand refresher “boot camps” for existing restaurants.


1. Knowledge of, and proficiency in, supervisory practices and procedures
2. Strong operational skills in a fast-paced food service environment
3. Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop Managers
4. Strong QSR industry P&L acumen
5. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures, including ServSafe certification
6. Organization, analytical, and planning skills
7. Effectively communicate, orally and in writing
8. Ability to gain the respect and trust of others at all levels of the company
9. Effectively handle and manage confidential and sensitive information
10. Excellent computer skills, including MSOffice and Excel
10. Experience in creating a digital training content
11. Able to make rational decisions when challenged with obstacles

Supervisory Responsibility

The Field Trainer Position is in charge of training sessions during new manager training and new restaurant openings, and would have direct supervisory responsibility during these times.
Physical Demands

1. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
2. Able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to 8 hours at a time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are based on the opening of new restaurants, training of new restaurant managers and conducting regularly scheduled training workshops and boot camps.

1. The Field Trainer is expected to work 5 days a week, with a minimum of 9 hours per
day, which includes one hour lunch period.
2. The nature of this position may require the Field Trainer to work up to 10 straight
days and up to 12 hours per day, depending on the opening of new restaurants.
3. This position requires a flexible work schedule based on the training of new
managers and the opening of new restaurants, where days and dates may change
with little advance notice.


Must be able to travel anywhere in the USA, up to 90% of their time.

Required Education and Experience

1. Minimum three years of experience training in individual, group, and classroom
2. Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
3. Proven track record of building sales, increasing profits, Manager development, and
operational improvement

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Minimum five years progressively responsible experience in restaurant industry
2. Minimum three years supervisory and/or training experience
